2NE1 Cancels Comeback TV Appearances for Minzy
2NE1 had to cancel its scheduled appearance on the July 12 broadcast of Mnet’s M! Countdown due to unfortunate events.
The group released its first new single in a year, I Love You, on July 5, and launched its promotions for the single on the July 8 broadcast of SBS’ Inkigayo. A day after the performance, however, on July 9, legendary traditional dancer and Minzy’s great-aunt Gong Ok Jin passed away, leading the group to cancel its scheduled activities.
The wake for Gong Ok Jin will take place for four days and the funeral processions will take place on July 12, passing by her home in Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang.
A rep from YG Entertainment said on July 10, “Minzy wanted to see her great-aunt off for the last time. The broadcasting channels understood, and so we decided not to appear in music shows this week.”
The Me2Day Star Chat event that 2NE1 was to appear in on July 11 will also take place without Minzy.
Gong Minzy plans to join 2NE1 in its promotions after the funeral.
